Climate change is, of course, an important factor in future-proof wood construction for a sustainable society. We are positive about the high demands being placed on everything from transport and construction methods to the choice of building materials and environmentally conscious long-term thinking. This means that we must constantly continue to develop and meet the environmental goals that have been set. Or better yet, surpass them.
Our offer is probably the clearest proof that we are on the right track. We only work with building components that are produced from renewable raw materials in a process with minimal climate impact. In addition, the by-products are used as biofuel. Holmen’s facilities that produce construction products are certified according to ISO 14001 and several of their products are CE marked. Through Holmen, we also have the opportunity to deliver PEFC and FSC®
(FSC® – C104016) certified products, if the customer chooses to order them.
As a natural part of the cycle, wood products bind carbon dioxide throughout their lifespan. And unlike materials made from fossil resources, they do not leave an indelible mark on nature. Every year, the Swedish forests see growth of 30 million m3, which corresponds to one multi-storey wooden building every five minutes.
We must constantly take into account the reality of our customers and partners. Many of them have high environmental ambitions. But we can only seriously offer smart climate choices if the products and solutions available also deliver on function and financial viability. We are driven by the conviction that through collaboration and goal-oriented knowledge exchange within the industry, we can reverse the climate trend and help to mitigate negative climate impacts.
